For those of us who seamlessly switch between work and gaming on the same hardware, finding a display that caters to both needs can be a challenging endeavor. Enter HP’s latest creation, the Omen Transcend 32, a gaming monitor unveiled at CES that appears to strike the perfect balance for users juggling complex systems on a single screen. Boasting a 32-inch OLED panel, this display is a technological marvel, tailored to meet the demands of both productivity and gaming enthusiasts.
At its core, the Omen Transcend 32 is a 4K resolution, QD-OLED monitor featuring an impressive 240Hz refresh rate on its 31.5-inch screen, placing it at the higher echelon of the OLED monitor spectrum. Covering 100 percent of the sRGB color range with 100 nits of peak brightness in HDR mode, it promises a visually stunning experience. Yet, what sets it apart is the extensive array of ports typically uncommon in gaming displays. Equipped with the latest DisplayPort 2.1, double HDMI 2.1, and USB-C with DisplayPort alt mode, including 140 watts of power delivery, it caters to even the most power-hungry gaming laptops.
However, the Omen Transcend’s versatility extends beyond its gaming prowess. Featuring two USB-A 3.2 ports and two USB-C 3.2 ports, both with 15 watts of power delivery, it seamlessly transitions between gaming and office use. User-switchable inputs allow effortless movement between two machines, complemented by an integrated KVM switch. The monitor’s unique ability to display a picture-in-picture mode enhances its usability, offering a simultaneous view of two screens. Integrated software takes it a step further, allowing users to control two machines simultaneously with the ease of moving the mouse and keyboard to the PIP area, eliminating the need for manual switching or additional tools.
While the Omen Transcend’s actual performance remains to be seen, as it is slated for a mid-year release with finalized hardware, the promises it holds make it an exciting prospect. Though the absence of a confirmed price raises speculation, the potential to create an ideal setup for multitasking between gaming and work might make the investment worthwhile.
