Following the successful debut of the M3 chip in the 14-inch MacBook Pro last October, Apple has unveiled upgrades to its MacBook Air lineup. The 13-inch and 15-inch MacBook Air models now feature the faster M3 chips, maintaining the sleek and lightweight design that users love.
In addition to the M3 chip—featuring an 8-Core CPU/8-Core GPU configuration in the base 13-inch model and an 8-Core CPU/10-Core GPU setup in all other configurations—Apple has implemented Wi-Fi 6E connectivity upgrades. Moreover, users can now enjoy the convenience of connecting up to two external displays simultaneously, even when the laptop lid is closed—an enhancement over previous MacBook Air models, which only supported a single display.
Aside from these advancements, the new MacBook Air retains its hallmark features, including the vibrant Liquid Retina display, elegant aluminum enclosure, MagSafe charging compatibility, exceptional 18-hour battery life, and a high-quality 1080p FaceTime HD camera. Available in midnight, starlight, silver, and space gray color options, the M3 MacBook Air offers users a seamless blend of performance and style.
Pricing remains consistent with previous models, with the 13-inch MacBook Air starting at $1,099 and the 15-inch model beginning at $1,299, both equipped with 8GB of RAM and 256GB of storage. Notably, the M1 model has been phased out, replaced by the M2 Air as the entry-level $999 option.
Interested consumers can preorder the M3 MacBook Air starting today, with shipping slated to commence on Friday, March 8. This announcement also suggests that Apple may eschew a traditional spring event this year, opting instead to unveil new products through press releases.
