Western Digital breaks new ground in storage technology with the unveiling of the world’s first 4-terabyte SD card, set to hit the market in 2025. This groundbreaking development marks a significant leap in storage capacity, catering to the burgeoning needs of broadcasters and content creators.

At the National Association of Broadcasters (NAB) show, Western Digital showcases the 4TB SanDisk Extreme PRO SDUC UHS-I memory card, demonstrating its prowess in pushing the boundaries of storage innovation. While details regarding pricing remain undisclosed, the card utilizes the UHS-I bus at Speed Class 10, delivering optimal performance for demanding applications.

Rated to meet Video Speed Class V30 standards, the SD card boasts a minimal sequential write speed of 30 MB/s, making it suitable for high-resolution content capture, including 8K video recording. However, despite nearing the capacity of conventional SSDs, it’s essential to note that SD cards are not intended for long-term storage due to factors such as memory type and environmental conditions.

For reliable long-term storage solutions, Western Digital offers a range of SSDs and external drives tailored to meet diverse user requirements. Among its latest offerings is the 24TB G-Drive, an external desktop hard drive priced at $699, catering to users seeking ample storage capacity and robust performance. Additionally, the 24TB G-Drive Project, priced at $929, features a 40Gbps Thunderbolt 3/USB-C port, while the 48TB Mirror drive, priced at $1,599, offers RAID-1 mirrored backup functionality, ensuring data redundancy and security.
