AMD has confirmed that the pricing for its upcoming Ryzen 9000 desktop processors will indeed be lower than that of their predecessors, a surprising move in the current market. According to an official announcement on X/Twitter, the Ryzen 7 9700X will retail for $359, marking a $40 reduction from the Ryzen 7 7700X. Similarly, the Ryzen 5 9600X will cost $279, down $20 from the Ryzen 5 7600X. These models are set to hit the market on August 8.

Following that, the Ryzen 9 9950X and Ryzen 7 9900X will launch on August 15th, priced at $649 and $499 respectively, reflecting a $50 drop from their 7000-series counterparts. While not as steep a discount as initially leaked by Best Buy, these reductions are still significant and should appeal to system builders.

Originally announced at Computex in June, the Ryzen 9000 series faced delays to ensure optimal quality. Despite the broader economic trends, AMD’s price cuts represent a rare retail break for consumers.
