Take a deep breath, everyone. Logitech’s ambitious concept of a “forever mouse” won’t be hitting the market after all. Originally touted as a revolutionary idea, the mouse was intended to offer a lifetime of updates and features through a subscription model. However, Logitech has since confirmed that there are no plans to develop or release this product.

The “forever mouse” was proposed by newly-appointed Logitech CEO Hanneke Faber, who envisioned a model where consumers would continually pay for updates, much like owning a luxury item. The idea sparked a considerable backlash, with many critics arguing that it conflicted with the traditional notion of owning and using hardware for the long term.

In response to the public outcry, Logitech has clarified that the “forever mouse” was merely an exploration of future possibilities and not an actual product in development. The company will continue to offer its current range of mice, which are purchased outright and used for their lifespan. Logitech’s statement emphasized that the concept was intended to provoke thought on sustainable consumer electronics, not to replace existing products
