Gaming laptops have come a long way from their humble beginnings, and Acer is pushing the boundaries even further with its latest concept, the Acer DualPlay. This innovative gaming laptop maintains a robust, RGB-lit design whether it’s closed or open. In its standard form, it functions like any high-performance gaming laptop, capable of handling intense games or even mundane tasks like spreadsheet editing.
The real innovation comes into play when you’re ready to dive into your favorite games. A simple press of a release button transforms the touchpad into a fully functional gaming controller. The touchpad, which is wirelessly connected and secured by an “electromagnetic lock,” pops out to become a game controller, enhancing your gaming experience.
Additionally, when the touchpad is ejected, the laptop’s speakers extend outward. Although these speakers are only 5 watts and not much more powerful than typical laptop speakers, they likely offer improved sound quality since they’re not confined to the laptop’s interior.
At this stage, the Acer DualPlay remains a concept with no detailed specs released, such as CPU or screen size. It’s unclear if it will ever reach retail shelves. If this concept isn’t a reality yet, consider an 8BitDo wireless gamepad with some magnets for a DIY alternative.
