In the latest update for Windows 11 Insiders, several notable features have been introduced, including jump lists for apps pinned to the Start menu and the ability to share files directly from the Windows Search panel, as reported by Windows Latest. Among these enhancements, the most compelling addition is the new Shared section in File Explorer, conveniently located alongside the existing Recent and Favorite sections.
This Shared section integrates seamlessly with your Microsoft account, showcasing files shared with you across various Microsoft products, such as OneDrive and Teams. For users with enterprise or education accounts, this section will also display files shared within their organization. It is designed to work with Microsoft Entra ID, which helps companies manage access to internal resources for their employees.
While still experiencing some bugs, the new Shared feature in File Explorer has the potential to significantly improve file accessibility, especially for fast-paced teams and organizations. By consolidating shared files from multiple applications into one central location, users can more easily locate the documents or images they require.
Currently, this feature is included in the optional KB5043185 update, available to Windows Insiders on the Dev Channel, with a broader rollout expected to occur in early October.
