Microsoft has revealed that its latest update for the Photos app on Windows will bring a convenient image search feature. Initially, the update is being rolled out to Windows 11 users enrolled in the Insider program, across all Insider channels. Once completed, it will move to Windows 10 users in the Beta and Release Preview channels before becoming publicly available at a later date.
The new image search feature is simple to use. When viewing an image in the Photos app, you’ll now see a Visual Search with Bing button at the bottom of the window. As expected, clicking this button launches a Bing image search in your default web browser, using the photo currently displayed in Photos.
The search results will show visually similar images, along with related products and other relevant content. For instance, searching a celebrity’s image might bring up clothing items they’re wearing, like hats or jackets, providing an extra layer of useful information.
Additionally, the update enables Windows 10 users to sync and view their iCloud photos within the app. A new iCloud Photos section appears in the left sidebar, allowing users to install iCloud for Windows, sign in with their Apple ID, and sync their images. (This feature is already available for Windows 11 users.)
Other improvements include enhanced navigation in the Gallery app, an option to keep Photos running in the background, and a right-click option in File Explorer for quick image editing in the Photos app.
