When it comes to PC cases, I have a distinct preference for designs reminiscent of a tiny refrigerator—minimalist and devoid of RGB lighting, please. Yet, I must concede that the allure of larger builds, flaunting their high-end components behind glass panels, has a certain voyeuristic charm. This trend of extravagant designs has gained traction, with Asus leading the charge once again.

The new Asus TUF Gaming GT502 Horizon embodies this larger-is-better philosophy. Featuring a dual-chamber layout, the case showcases all the flashy components on the right side, elegantly displayed through tempered glass, while the power supply and the majority of cable management are cleverly hidden in the rear. This configuration not only shortens the overall height but also expands the width compared to traditional ATX cases, allowing Asus to prominently feature its TUF branding on the metal exterior.

The GT502 Horizon boasts generous cooling capabilities, accommodating up to 360mm fans or radiators on both the top and front/side panels, complemented by a built-in PWM hub that supports a total of 13 fans. For those who wish to add a touch of flair, an optional lighting kit with magnetic LEDs integrates seamlessly with the Aura lighting system.

One intriguing claim is that this case can “comfortably withstand up to 30kg of weight from above,” which translates to approximately 66 pounds. Typically, placing heavy items on a PC is discouraged, especially if it draws air from the top. Perhaps this is aimed at users looking to showcase elaborate builds or collections. Additionally, Asus mentions that the “sturdy fabric handles” assist with relocating the PC, though it’s worth noting that the press release lacks details about rear-mount motherboard compatibility. While TUF serves as Asus’ budget line, there’s a clear push for innovative designs in their products.

As for pricing, the GT502 Horizon is yet to have a retail figure announced, but it’s anticipated to launch in the fourth quarter of this year, likely around October. For reference, the previous model retailed at approximately $160.
