A persistent question about Qualcomm’s Snapdragon X Elite processors has been whether they’re confined to mobile devices. While Qualcomm has previously suggested broader applications, the company’s CEO has now given a clear signal that desktop processors are indeed on the horizon. At the launch event for the Snapdragon X Plus, held ahead of IFA in Berlin, CEO Cristiano Amon addressed this directly.
Amon shared, “We started with the Snapdragon X Elite, followed by the X Plus and the 10-core variant. Today, we’re unveiling the 8-core Plus to cater to various price points. We’re working on numerous designs for desktops and mini desktops, and it’s likely we’ll be venturing into high-performance desktop solutions as well. Our commitment is clear: we’re in this for the long haul.”
He also touched upon potential collaborations with Chromebooks, echoing earlier comments from Google’s John Solomon. Amon mentioned that further details would be revealed at an investor conference in November, promising a deeper dive into the future of the Snapdragon platform. “Stay tuned for November,” he concluded.
