Yesterday, OpenAI took to X/Twitter to announce the rollout of an exciting new feature for the web version of ChatGPT: a search function that allows users to sift through their past conversations with the AI chatbot.
Previously, users could view a history of their interactions with ChatGPT, neatly organized by date in the left-side navigation panel. Conversations were categorized into groups like Today, Yesterday, Previous 7 days, and Previous 30 days. However, the new search functionality enhances this experience significantly.
With this update, users can access a search button located at the top-left corner of the ChatGPT interface. This feature opens a pop-up modal where users can initiate a new chat or conduct searches across all previous conversations. This capability is particularly useful for referencing past messages or continuing discussions that may have been set aside.
Currently, the new search feature is rolling out to ChatGPT Plus and Team subscribers, while Enterprise and Edu subscribers can expect access within the next week. Free users, however, will need to wait approximately a month before they can take advantage of this functionality.
