It adds several key new features
Tech giant Google has announced a new Pixel Feature Drop, rolling out a range of new features to its Pixel series of phones, smartwatches, tablets and headphones.
First up is support for Google’s AI assistant Gemini on all Pixel Buds headphones. You can ask Gemini for directions or information from your emails, or simply bounce ideas off the AI via Gemini Live conversations.
There are also several new features for the cameras on Pixel devices. If you use a waterproof case to take photos or videos with your Pixel device when you’re out diving, you’ll now notice that the colours will be more rich and lifelike.
The update also improves low-light photography without flash while the Instagram app.
The last major new feature for the Pixel mobile cameras is the Magic Eraser for Sound, which lets you remove distracting sounds like wind or loud crowds from your videos.
However, the Magic Eraser for Sound is only available for Pixel 8 phones and newer, so anything released since October 2023.
Today’s Pixel Feature Drop also includes a range of new security features that we reported on earlier this month.
For example, Pixel phones will now have an anti-theft feature that automatically locks the phone if someone snatches it out of your hands.
In addition, Pixel devices will now have secret private spaces where you can organise apps you want to keep hidden from others who may have access to the device.
