Give your app a unique look

WhatsApp is an incredibly useful app used by billions of people around the world. But does it ever look a little boring to you?

If you answered yes, you’re in luck. As WABetaInfo reports, a brand-new feature is coming to the Android version of the app: chat-specific themes.

Currently, WhatsApp allows users to set a single theme across all chats, which can feel a bit restrictive for those who prefer a more personalised look.

This new update changes that by letting users pick a different theme for each chat.

Whether it’s a vibrant colour for a lively group chat or a soothing shade for work-related messages, you’ll soon have the option to fully customise your WhatsApp experience.

In addition to offering 20 different colours, the update also includes 22 textured themes that add a stylish touch to your conversations. Once a theme is selected, WhatsApp automatically assigns a complementary message colour to keep the aesthetic consistent.

And if that’s not enough customisation for you, you can even change the wallpaper for each chat while keeping the same message colour, giving you total control over how each conversation looks.

While the feature is gradually rolling out, it’s currently limited to WhatsApp beta users running version 2.24.21.34 on Android.

If you’re one of the lucky few, you’ll be able to customise your chat themes by going into the conversation’s settings and selecting the theme option from the overflow menu.

For those not on the beta version, the feature is expected to be released more widely in the coming months. Presumably, it’ll also be available on the iPhone version of the app too at some point.

So, whether you’re a beta tester or waiting for the global release, you can look forward to adding a splash of colour to your WhatsApp chats soon.

That’s not all. Your Android phone might also get a big free security upgrade soon.
