Dual-screen laptops were a bit of a trend a few years ago, with manufacturers like Lenovo and Asus leading the charge. However, after their initial buzz, these innovative designs seemed to fade from the spotlight. But it appears Asus is preparing to bring dual-screen laptops back with a bang, according to a retailer leak that points to a new beastly device set for release.
The Asus UX8406CA, which surfaced in a store listing from UAE-based Gear-up.me, appears to be an updated version of the Zenbook Duo design. The leak suggests that the laptop will feature two 14-inch OLED screens, just like the Zenbook Duo, placed in their usual positions. Users can opt to use the laptop in a traditional layout with a touchscreen keyboard, or they can prop it up with the integrated kickstand, allowing for either vertical or horizontal screen stacking. A wireless keyboard, trackpad, and stylus will be sold separately.
One of the most intriguing aspects of this device is the processor powering it: the Intel Core Ultra 9 U9-285H. This Arrow Lake-H chip hasn’t been officially announced yet, although Intel has confirmed the launch of its 200H family in Q1 2025. The retailer listing suggests that the laptop might feature 24 cores, but the specific breakdown between performance (P) and efficiency (E) cores remains unclear. There’s some speculation that the listing might have gotten the processor’s designation wrong, with a more accurate name possibly being the U-285HX.
Other notable specs from the listing include 32GB of RAM, a magnesium alloy chassis, and a weight of around 3.6 pounds (roughly the same as the current Zenbook Duo). The laptop will come with an SSD and integrated Intel Arc graphics, although further details on these components are still to be revealed.
The price tag is where things get really eye-catching, with the retail page listing it at 1,421.90 Bahraini Dinars, which converts to about $3,781. This would represent more than double the starting price of the existing Zenbook Duo. However, it’s important to keep in mind that international pricing can be significantly higher than in the US due to factors like supply chains and tariffs.
While the listing hasn’t been confirmed, if this is indeed an updated version of the Zenbook Duo, it’s likely that the final price for the US market will be much more reasonable—potentially in the $2,000 range for a high-spec configuration. If this device is truly coming, a CES announcement in early January would be the most logical next step.
