Windows 11 users might soon notice a new feature appearing in their taskbar: content recommendations. According to Windows Latest, this feature has been spotted in the latest beta versions of Windows 11, though details about how it will work remain scarce.

Currently, under the Personalization > Taskbar settings, users can control which elements appear on their taskbars. In the latest beta, a new option has been introduced that allows users to toggle recommendations on or off. In addition, references to taskbar recommendations have been found in the system files, as well as a related Windows registry key.

What exactly will these recommendations be? While it’s not yet clear, there’s a good chance they could range from app suggestions from the Microsoft Store to websites based on your browsing activity. It could also involve taskbar features that suggest better window layouts or ways to optimize your workflow.

As exciting as this might sound, it’s important to note that this feature is still speculative, with no official confirmation from Microsoft regarding its release or full functionality. Considering the influx of other potentially unwanted additions in Windows 11, like ads in the Start menu, users might be cautious or even skeptical about this new recommendation feature.
