ASRock’s New OLED Monitors Double as Wi-Fi Boosters

The OLED monitor market is flooded with options, so standing out requires a unique approach. ASRock is shaking things up with its latest Phantom Gaming monitors, which offer a surprising feature: the ability to enhance your PC motherboard’s Wi-Fi signal.

While these monitors don’t come with onboard Wi-Fi or smart TV capabilities, they function as a signal booster for your motherboard’s Wi-Fi antennas. Instead of using the standard plastic antennas bundled with many motherboards, these monitors integrate antenna functionality directly into their design. Compatible with Wi-Fi 4 through 7, they provide a sleek solution for desktop users who value cable management.

ASRock’s lineup includes five models featuring this antenna integration. The flagship 32-inch PGO32UFS stands out with 4K resolution, USB-C video support, and refresh rates of 240Hz (4K) or a blazing 480Hz (1080p). It also features an integrated KVM switch for managing multiple devices. However, a secondary display in the monitor base that only displays a logo has drawn criticism for its limited utility.

Other options include a 27-inch 1440p OLED model with the same antenna features but without the KVM switch. For gamers who prefer more traditional panels, ASRock offers 34-inch and 27-inch VA displays with the Wi-Fi boost capability. Pricing and regional availability are still under wraps, but these monitors certainly bring an intriguing mix of functionality to the table.
