If you’ve ever closed File Explorer in the middle of browsing through several folders and tabs, you know how frustrating it can be to lose your place. Thankfully, Microsoft is rolling out a new feature to address this.
In a recent preview build released to Windows 11 Insiders on the Beta Channel (spotted by Windows Latest), a much-needed update has been introduced: File Explorer can now remember your tabs.
With the new update, you’ll be able to check the “Restore previous folder windows at logon” option in File Explorer’s settings, which will ensure that all your open tabs are restored the next time you log back into Windows. This means you won’t have to worry about navigating through multiple folders again after closing the window.
Currently, this feature is available in the Beta update KB5046733 (Build 22635.4580) for Windows 11. We’re still waiting to see when it will be made available for the broader Windows 11 user base.
