Microsoft Expands Surface Lineup with Intel-Powered Models for Business Customers
Microsoft has introduced new Surface Laptop (7th Edition) and Surface Pro (11th Edition) models specifically for business users, both powered by Intel’s Core Ultra 200 (Lunar Lake) processors. These new devices provide a choice between x86 and Windows on Arm for business customers looking for powerful, flexible options for their work environment. Along with these new devices, Microsoft revealed that a version of the Surface Laptop with 5G connectivity will be released later this year, expanding the connectivity options for business users.
These new Surface Pro and Laptop editions are essentially refined versions of the already announced consumer models, with the Intel-powered business versions hitting the market on February 18, starting at $1,499. The Surface Pro continues its role as a 13-inch tablet, while the Surface Laptop is available in both 13.8-inch and 15-inch sizes.
Microsoft’s Copilot+ initiative is another highlight of these new models. Both the Surface Pro and Laptop feature Intel’s Core Ultra 5 236V and Core Ultra 5 238V processors with an NPU capable of 40 TOPS, meeting the minimum threshold for Copilot+. This designation means business users will have access to enhanced AI-powered Windows features, including the new Recall and Click-To-Do capabilities. However, while Snapdragon-based Copilot+ PCs have access to more of the announced AI features, Microsoft is working to bring parity between Intel, AMD, and Snapdragon platforms in the future.
The new models offer significant performance improvements over previous generations. The Surface Laptop boasts a 26% faster performance for multitasking, twice the graphics performance, and up to 22 hours of battery life. Meanwhile, the Surface Pro for Business retains its 13-inch OLED or LCD display options, with up to 32GB of LPDDR5X RAM and up to 1TB of removable SSD storage. The tablet has a 1440p front-facing camera, 10Mpixel rear camera, and two Thunderbolt 4 ports for fast connectivity.
For those needing extra peripherals, Microsoft is also launching a USB4 Hub priced at $199.99, designed to complement the Surface aesthetic but compatible with any laptop featuring a USB4 port. This new hub supports dual 4K60 displays, gigabit Ethernet, and 10Gbps USB-A connectivity.
