Rumoured to feature special robust material
Samsung’s forthcoming Galaxy S25 Edge smartphone may go way beyond its super skinny reputation, and could actually be uniquely durable in one respect.
The Samsung Galaxy S25 Ultra currently has the durability bragging rights in the range thanks to its Titanium frame, but the Samsung Galaxy S25 Edge could be adopting its own special material.
Here’s the lowdown, followed by some other fresh rumours concerning Samsung’s skinny new smartphone.
Galaxy S25 Edge could take up ceramics
SamMobile claims that while the Samsung Galaxy S25 Edge will feature a pretty standard aluminium frame, much like the Galaxy S25, it will adopt ceramic for its rear cover in the name of superior durability.
It’s not known what proportion this ceramic material will make up. It could be an entirely ceramic back, or it could be a glass-ceramic combination. Whatever the case, it’ll be completely unique among the four-strong Samsung Galaxy S25 family, which all use toughened Gorilla Glass Victus 2 to the rear.
At a rumoured 5.84mm thick, we already knew that the Galaxy S25 Edge was going to be slim and lightweight. However, the report also mentions that switching to ceramic could help with a further reduction in weight.

Samsung
Tough but leaky
It might prove to be deceptively tough, but the Galaxy S25 Edge is certainly proving to be leaky. That is to say, we’ve heard plenty about Samsung’s super-slim smartphone in recent weeks ahead of its full unveiling.
Last week we brought you the news that the Galaxy S25 Edge had been benchmarked, and with some weirdly low scores considering the Snapdragon 8 Elite chip that’s tipped to power it.
Around the same time, a tip from established leaker Ice Universe claimed that the Edge display size would be almost the same as the Galaxy S25+. The tipster posted an image that they claimed was of the Galaxy S25 Edge’s protective film, and sure enough, it looks pretty Plus-like to us.
For reference, the Samsung Galaxy S25+ features a 6.7-inch AMOLED display.
We’re expecting to see more of the Samsung Galaxy S25 Edge At MWC 2025, which takes place in the first week of March.
