The Latest in PC Excess: Holographic RGB Fans Exist Now
So, you’ve crammed your gaming rig with more RGB than a Vegas casino, complete with mini LCD screens on your motherboard, RAM, and cooling system. What’s left? What could possibly satisfy your never-ending craving for flashy, flickering excess? One word: holograms.
Well, “holograms” in the loosest sense. Coolify has taken those spinning LED displays—the ones that create a semi-transparent image with rotating light bars—and slapped them onto PC case fans.
Spotted by VideoCardz, the Coolify Holo Fan is now available for DIY PC builders looking to push the limits of customization. These are standard 120mm fans, offered in 1500 or 2600 RPM models. However, because they rely on a specific speed to display animations properly, you can’t adjust their RPM without breaking the effect. The display itself consists of 96 LEDs, technically allowing for a 96-pixel-diameter image, though the software accepts 300-pixel-wide uploads—which is a stretch for Coolify’s claim of “ultra HD” visuals.
One unique aspect? The fans don’t transfer data to your PC. Instead, you load up animations via Wi-Fi using a companion phone app. This means no extra software clogging up your system, but it could be a hassle if you’re syncing multiple fans.
At $46 per fan, they’re not cheap, but considering the novelty factor, they might be worth it—just make sure you install them facing the right way.
