Microsoft is ramping up its push to move users off Windows 10, with a new blog post that unabashedly encourages anyone still using an older PC to upgrade to its latest Copilot+ PCs. As spotted by Windows Central, the blog makes a clear pitch to those whose devices aren’t eligible for the Windows 11 upgrade, suggesting that Copilot+ PCs are the future.

These new systems come loaded with AI-focused features, the most high-profile of which is Recall. This feature continuously takes snapshots of your screen, uses AI to analyze them, and builds an index so you can search through your past activities. Microsoft also claims that Copilot+ PCs are up to five times faster than aging Windows machines and benefit from improved security, longer battery life, and better overall performance.

Despite those advances, Copilot+ PCs aren’t perfect. The Recall feature, in particular, has raised significant privacy and security concerns, leading many to question whether it’s safe to keep enabled. Until those concerns are fully addressed, we recommend disabling Recall if you purchase a Copilot+ PC—it’s simply too risky as it stands.

Support for Windows 10 officially ends on October 14, 2025. After that date, the OS won’t receive any more security updates, leaving systems increasingly vulnerable to threats. For those still running Windows 10, the best path forward is to upgrade to Windows 11 if your hardware allows. If not, Microsoft wants you to purchase a Copilot+ device. Other options include paying for extended support, switching to Linux, or sticking with Windows 10 and accepting the growing risks. If you go that route, be sure to read our guide on how to keep your system as safe as possible after support ends.
