When it comes to flip-style folding phones, the first company most people think of is Samsung.
And with good reason: the company’s Galaxy Z Flip line helped propel modern flip phones into the mainstream, even if most of the best phones are still traditional clamshell devices.
However, as far as Tech Advisor is concerned, Samsung doesn’t hold the title of best flip phone right now. That award goes to Motorola’s Razr 60 Ultra, so Samsung has some catching up to do.
While last year’s Galaxy Z Flip 6 was a little underwhelming, it looks like there’s plenty to be excited about regarding the upcoming Galaxy Z Flip 7 and Z Flip 7 FE.
When will the Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 7 be released?
In summary
- Galaxy Z Flip 7 series rumoured to launch on 9 July
- Likely to include Z Flip 7 and brand-new Z Flip 7 FE
- Should go on sale within a few weeks of being announced
Samsung will apparently launch the Galaxy Z Flip 7 and Flip 7 FE alongside the Z Fold 7 at an event in New York City in early July 2025.
More specifically, a well-known leaker suggests the next Galaxy Unpacked event will take place on 9 July, with proceedings getting underway at 10am EDT (3pm UK time). That’s earlier than previously rumoured.
Elsewhere, a series of sponsored Samsung Health runs in the city have been spotted, and they’re kicking off on 13 July, so this timing would make sense.
If true, it’d be just a day earlier than last year’s launch, which took place on 10 July 2024. As usual, we can expect the devices to go on sale shortly after they’re announced.
The company supposedly began production of the Z Flip 7 on 30 April, and a version of the Samsung Internet Browser has officially mentioned it, all adding to the feeling that the device isn’t far away.
After being known in some reports as the ‘Z Flip FE’, the Z Flip 7’s cheaper alternative has appeared on NBTC certification as the ‘Z Flip 7 FE’, suggesting that it’ll be the final name.

How much will the Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 7 cost?
In summary
- Galaxy Z Flip 7 is likely to start at around £1,049/$1,099.99
- Z Flip 7 FE pricing could be much more affordable
The Galaxy Z Flip starting prices have remained fairly consistent for a while now:
- Z Flip 6 – from £1,049/$1,099.99
- Z Flip 5 – from £1,049/$999.99
- Z Flip 4 – from £999/$999.99
And it looks like it’ll be a similar story this year, with the regular Z Flip 7 rumoured to have the same prices as its predecessor in “most markets”.
That’s likely to include the UK and US, meaning it would undercut its key rival in the Motorola Razr 60 Ultra (from £1,099/$1,299).
The £1,049/$1,099.99 starting price is expected to get 12GB of RAM and 256GB of storage, while a more expensive model will double the latter to 512GB.

As for the Z Flip 7 FE, leaked Korean pricing suggests the phone will cost 1,485,000 KRW. That translates to around £800/$1,100, though these direct conversions are rarely accurate.
