Anker Recalls Six USB Power Banks Over Fire Risk — Here’s What You Need to Know
Accessory giant Anker has announced a major recall of six portable power banks due to serious safety concerns, including risks of melting, smoke, and potential fire. The recall, first spotted by 9to5Google, comes “out of an abundance of caution,” according to Anker, following incidents linked to overheating batteries.
The affected models include:
- Anker PowerCore 10000 (Model A1263)
- Anker Power Bank 10K, 22.5W (Model A1257)
- Anker Power Bank 20K, 22.5W with Built-In USB-C Cable (Model A1647)
- Anker MagGo Power Bank 10K, 7.5W (Model A1652)
- Anker Zolo Power Bank 20K, 30W with USB-C & Lightning Cable (Model A1681)
- Anker Zolo Power Bank 20K, 30W with USB-C Cable (Model A1689)
If you own any of these models, stop using them immediately. These devices pose a serious fire hazard and should not be disposed of in the trash due to potential combustion. Anker advises users to begin the recall process—even without a receipt—by submitting clear photos of the power bank and its model number.
Once approved, users will be asked to dispose of the battery through a specialized e-waste facility that is authorized to handle lithium battery recalls. Contact your local facility first to confirm it can accept the recalled item safely.
Anker will provide either a replacement unit or a gift card equal to the product’s value if no replacement is available. While the process may require extra steps, it’s a necessary move to protect both personal safety and property.
