Anker has acknowledged customer frustration over its automatically bundled “Plus subscription” and says a fix is on the way. “You can delete the cart and reselect the product without the subscription,” the company explained, adding that “Today there will be an update for the website that allows you to delete the subscription without needing to reselect the product.”

While Anker remains a go-to brand for power banks, USB-C hubs, and other PC and mobile accessories, buying directly from the company’s website could land you with an unexpected $9.99-per-month “Anker Plus” subscription. The program, which promises benefits such as free next-day delivery, members-only products, extra reward credits, and an additional 5% discount, is added automatically to certain product purchases. Customers don’t get the option to decline before checkout — it appears as a one-time “free” add-on during the initial purchase, then transitions to a paid plan after the first month.

For example, the Anker Nano Power Bank (10K, USB-C Cable), listed at $59.99, includes these Plus benefits without any opt-out option before purchase. On the shopping cart page, the $9.99 subscription fee is shown as waived for the first month, but while there’s a visible delete button for the power bank itself, no such option exists for the subscription.

Anker’s own product page popups detail the perks of Plus membership, and while customers can cancel immediately upon receiving their order, there’s no guarantee everyone will notice the charge once it starts appearing on their credit card statements. As Inc. noted, this setup could result in a steady stream of accidental subscription revenue from customers who either forget to cancel or never realize they’ve been signed up.
