Windows 11’s latest cumulative update is once again sparking frustration among users, particularly those who rely on their PCs for live streaming and content creation. After installing update KB5063878, which brings the system to build 26100.4946, many have reported “severe stuttering, lag, and choppy audio/video” when using apps like Open Broadcast Software (OBS) and NDI Tools. This isn’t just another case of online complaints gaining traction—Microsoft itself has confirmed the issue on its official Windows update tracker, citing the same problems noted by the community.
The problem appears to be confined to applications that record or broadcast the PC’s own output, meaning casual users watching Netflix, YouTube, or other streaming services won’t notice any disruption. For professionals, however, the stakes are much higher. These apps are essential for everything from livestreamed gaming to corporate presentations, and the current bug makes them nearly unusable. Microsoft has acknowledged the problem and says it is actively investigating, but there is no word yet on when a fix will arrive.
As a temporary measure, Microsoft has pointed NDI Tools users to a workaround suggested by the software’s developer, though it is not a complete solution. For many creators, the only reliable option may be to uninstall the update entirely until a permanent patch is issued. This latest issue adds to a growing list of recent Windows 11 update troubles, including reports of disappearing SSDs and failed system recoveries, further eroding confidence among power users.
