If you’ve ever wished for a laptop that prioritizes battery life over portability, Energizer’s new EnergyBook Pro Ultra might catch your attention. Produced by Avenir Telecom, this flagship model leads a lineup that also includes the EnergyBook Pro 15 and the larger EnergyBook Pro XL 18. The standout feature of the Ultra is its massive 192 watt-hour (13,000mAh) battery, which is claimed to be the largest ever fitted inside a laptop. According to Energizer, it offers up to 28 hours of web browsing and around 11 hours of gaming or other demanding workloads, alongside a 7-day standby mode.
However, such an oversized power source comes with practical drawbacks—most notably travel restrictions. FAA regulations limit lithium-ion batteries on flights to a maximum of 160 watt-hours, meaning the EnergyBook Pro Ultra won’t be allowed on planes without special approval. That effectively locks this laptop into being a stay-at-home workhorse, rather than a travel companion.
Outside its battery, the EnergyBook Pro Ultra is otherwise fairly conventional. It’s equipped with an 18-inch 1920×1200 display, an AMD Ryzen 5 processor, 16GB of DDR4 RAM, and a 512GB SSD. While these specs won’t rival high-end gaming rigs, they’re more than adequate for productivity, media, and casual gaming. Pricing starts at €449 (around $523) for the smaller versions of the EnergyBook Pro series, which suggests the Ultra will be positioned as an affordable, long-lasting option rather than a performance-first machine.
By prioritizing battery life above all else, the EnergyBook Pro Ultra is a niche but intriguing entry in the laptop market—best suited for users who want marathon endurance at the cost of air travel portability.
