Anker is recalling nearly half a million of its power banks after the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) identified over thirty reports of fire and explosion incidents linked to the devices. The recall specifically affects Anker Power Banks with model numbers A1647, A1652, A1257, A1681, and A1689. These numbers can be found both in the product listing and engraved on the back or side of the device, with approximately 481,000 units sold previously impacted.

The CPSC urged consumers to immediately stop using the recalled units and check Anker’s official recall page to verify their serial numbers and register for the recall. Anker maintains its own product recalls page, which includes details of past recalls. Some of the recalled models overlap with Anker’s voluntary recalls from June and September 2024, although certain models like the A1263 are not included in the current CPSC notice.

Authorities warned against disposing of the lithium-ion batteries in regular trash due to the heightened fire risk. The affected power banks were sold on platforms including Amazon, AliExpress, eBay, Walmart, and TikTok between August 2023 and June 2025, priced roughly between $30 and $50. With three months left in 2025, the CPSC has already issued a record 376 recalls and safety warnings, amid ongoing political disputes over the agency’s non-partisan mandate.
