Adtalem Global Education has partnered with Google Cloud to launch a specialized AI credential program for healthcare students and professionals, set to debut in 2026. The initiative will integrate Google’s Gemini and Vertex AI platforms into hands-on clinical training across Adtalem’s network, including Chamberlain and Walden universities.

The program will train participants in applying AI to clinical decision-making, patient care, and administrative efficiency while addressing key issues such as ethical use and patient safety. Adtalem said the goal is to prepare graduates for a healthcare sector increasingly shaped by digital and data-driven tools.

Michael Betz, Adtalem’s Chief Digital Officer, said the collaboration “gives our students a competitive edge” by equipping them to use AI in real-world healthcare environments. Brent Mitchell, Google Public Sector’s vice president, emphasized that the partnership focuses on ensuring clinicians adopt AI “safely, responsibly and effectively.”

The initiative responds to growing concerns among healthcare workers about AI adoption. A recent Harris poll found that 42% of healthcare employees worry AI could replace parts of their jobs, while fewer than half feel comfortable using such tools today. Adtalem and Google aim to change that through structured, accessible education.
