Electronic Arts (EA) said on Thursday that its latest release, “Battlefield 6,” sold more than seven million copies in the first three days after launch, marking the biggest debut ever for the franchise.
The game, which arrived on October 10, achieved record-breaking engagement, with players logging over 172 million matches and 15 million hours viewed on streaming platforms during the opening weekend. EA also confirmed that “Battlefield 6” hit the highest concurrent player count in the series’ history.
The launch follows EA’s $55 billion sale to a Saudi-backed investor group, highlighting the strategic importance of its top franchises as the company seeks to strengthen its market position.
Season 1 of the game will launch on October 28, with additional updates planned before the end of the year. Analysts say “Battlefield 6” could be pivotal in challenging the dominance of Microsoft-owned Activision Blizzard’s “Call of Duty” in the competitive shooter genre.
While EA’s other franchises like “Apex Legends,” “Titanfall,” and “Star Wars Battlefront” have slowed, “Battlefield 6” appears to have reignited player enthusiasm and restored momentum to the publisher’s flagship lineup.
