Chevron opened a new 312,000-square-foot facility for its Engineering and Innovation Excellence Center (ENGINE) in Bengaluru, reinforcing its commitment to digital transformation and AI-driven efficiency.

The center, launched in 2023, now serves as a global engineering hub as the company targets $3 billion in cost reductions by 2026. “We use AI to improve how we drill and operate—not to cut headcount but to enhance performance,” said Akshay Sahni, Chevron’s head of India operations.

The Houston-based oil major has hired over 1,000 professionals since 2024 and plans to invest $1 billion in people and infrastructure. The Bengaluru hub includes real-time geological modeling and digital twins of Chevron’s facilities to optimize production.

India’s strong pool of engineering and technology talent is a key draw. “There are few places globally where you can hire across so many technical disciplines,” Sahni said. Chevron has no immediate plans for additional ENGINE hubs outside India.
