CNN will launch a new “All Access” subscription service on October 28, priced at $6.99 per month, in a renewed attempt to expand its digital footprint after the short-lived CNN+ experiment in 2022.
The new plan will offer live and on-demand video content, access to all CNN.com articles, and a collection of CNN Originals. Existing pay-TV subscribers will receive free access, while non-subscribers can choose a monthly plan or an annual offer of $69.99, available at an introductory $41.99 for the first year.
CNN’s parent company, Warner Bros Discovery (WBD), is betting on the new platform to counter declining cable TV revenues and strengthen its streaming portfolio as part of a broader restructuring that could eventually spin off CNN into a separate cable-focused entity.
“This is an essential step in CNN’s evolution,” said Alex MacCallum, executive vice president for digital products at CNN. The move is part of CEO Mark Thompson’s effort to modernize the network and recapture audiences lost to digital platforms.
The launch comes amid growing competition in the paid news streaming market, with Fox Corp’s Fox One entering the space earlier this year at $19.99 per month.
