Lam Research announced it expects higher-than-anticipated second-quarter revenue, reflecting increased orders from chipmakers racing to build processors for artificial intelligence systems. The company forecasts revenue of about $5.20 billion, above market estimates of $4.81 billion, and adjusted earnings per share of $1.15, exceeding projections of $1.04.
The surge in AI chip production has sharply boosted demand for wafer fabrication equipment — specialized tools crucial for semiconductor development. Lam’s technology is used in wafer processing and device wiring, forming a backbone of advanced chip manufacturing.
Rival firms including Applied Materials, ASML, and Analog Devices are also benefiting from the semiconductor industry’s AI-driven expansion. Lam’s latest quarterly report showed $5.32 billion in revenue and a profit per share of $1.26, both ahead of expectations. With its strong position in the semiconductor supply chain, Lam Research appears set to ride the momentum of the global AI revolution.
