MercadoLibre will begin selling products from Brazilian retailer Casas Bahia on its marketplace starting in November under a new commercial partnership designed to expand both companies’ reach in Brazil’s competitive e-commerce sector.

The collaboration gives MercadoLibre access to Casas Bahia’s strong presence in electronics, furniture, and large home appliances, while the retailer gains entry to Latin America’s largest online sales platform. Casas Bahia, which operates over 1,000 stores nationwide, will manage logistics for heavy items, leveraging its delivery network for bulky products like TVs and refrigerators.

Casas Bahia CEO Renato Franklin said the partnership opens a “fast-growing channel” at a crucial time as the company continues its debt restructuring. MercadoLibre’s Fernando Yunes emphasized that the alliance would help the firm close market gaps in key categories where it trails rivals.

Analysts say the move could reshape Brazil’s online retail landscape, intensifying competition with players like Amazon, Shopee, and Magazine Luiza. The announcement lifted Casas Bahia shares and gave a modest boost to MercadoLibre stock.
