Microsoft has reached a deal with Harvard Medical School to license its consumer health content, strengthening the medical knowledge base of its Copilot AI assistant. The agreement, made through Harvard Health Publishing, will allow Copilot to deliver expert-backed answers on diseases, treatments, and wellness.

A Harvard spokesperson confirmed that Microsoft will pay a licensing fee, without disclosing terms. The integration marks part of Microsoft’s effort to diversify beyond OpenAI, whose technology currently underpins much of Copilot.

The latest Copilot update, expected this month, will incorporate Harvard’s medical material to improve the accuracy and trustworthiness of AI-generated health responses. Microsoft is also expanding its ecosystem with Anthropic’s Claude and internally developed AI models.

The partnership underscores a growing trend of pairing academic credibility with AI accessibility, giving users a more reliable way to engage with health information through Microsoft’s global platforms.
