AMD’s momentum in the PC CPU market shows no signs of slowing, with the company reporting record desktop CPU sales in Q3 2025. CEO Dr. Lisa Su highlighted that the Client and Gaming segment sold $4 billion worth of processors, CPUs, and semi-custom chips for consoles, slightly trailing the $4.3 billion generated by the data center segment, which dominated analyst discussions during the earnings call.
Within the PC space, AMD’s desktop CPU sales reached an all-time high, fueled by strong demand for Ryzen 9000 processors. Su emphasized the portfolio’s performance across gaming, productivity, and content creation, noting that channel sell-in and sell-out numbers hit record levels. Desktop CPU market share has grown by nearly 10 percentage points year-over-year, and Su expects that trend to continue, citing the Ryzen lineup’s broad platform coverage and AMD’s expanded go-to-market investments.
Notably, Ryzen notebook sales also rose sharply, signaling AMD’s increasing penetration against Intel in laptops, where the traditional 80-20 split has favored Intel. The GPU segment saw growth driven by Radeon 9000 cards and FSR4 technology, supporting more than 85 games with AI-assisted frame generation and upscaling. Meanwhile, semi-custom chips benefitted from console production surges ahead of the holiday season, though AMD forecasts a “strong double-digit” decline in gaming revenue post-holidays.
Overall, AMD posted $9.2 billion in revenue for Q3 2025, up 36% year-over-year, with net income climbing 31% to $1.243 billion, underscoring its robust growth across desktop, notebook, GPU, and console markets.
