Microsoft has rolled out a notable upgrade to the Phone Link app on Windows 11, making the new “Expanded screen” feature available to all users. Delivered through a Microsoft Store update (version 1.25112.36.0), the feature allows Android apps mirrored via Phone Link to be expanded to occupy up to 90 percent of the Windows desktop, according to Windows Latest. This marks a significant improvement in usability compared to the previously constrained app window size.
Until now, Android apps running through Phone Link were limited to relatively small, fixed windows, which often made extended use impractical. With Expanded screen enabled, supported apps can now run in an almost full-screen layout, offering a much more comfortable experience for tasks such as messaging, browsing, or light productivity. That said, the feature is not entirely seamless yet: some apps may need to be restarted to properly scale, and others can appear slightly blurry when stretched to the larger display area.
Hardware compatibility remains a key requirement. The Expanded screen feature currently works only with supported Android devices, including Samsung Galaxy S22 through S24 series smartphones, Honor Magic 4 Pro, and select models from OnePlus, Oppo, and Xiaomi. For users with compatible phones, however, the update brings Phone Link closer to feeling like a native Android app environment within Windows 11.
