A newly released Windows 11 update is reportedly causing serious startup problems for some users. Update KB5077181, rolled out for Windows 11 versions 24H2 and 25H2, has been linked to systems entering endless restart loops immediately after installation, according to multiple user reports.
Affected users say their PCs fail to boot properly and instead cycle through repeated restarts. In some cases, a System Event Notification Service (SENS) error appears, indicating the system cannot communicate with a required service due to missing data or connection issues. Others report seeing error codes such as 0x800f0983 and 0x800f0991 during the failed startup process.
Additional reports describe DHCP-related errors that incorrectly suggest a lack of network connectivity or invalid IP addresses, even when devices are connected to the internet. The exact cause of the failures remains unclear, and Microsoft has not yet listed the issue among the update’s known problems or issued an official fix.
For users unable to access Windows after installing the patch, recovery mode may be the only option. Some have attempted system resets or rollbacks with mixed results. If possible, affected users are advised to uninstall the update through the installed updates list in Control Panel and temporarily pause automatic updates to prevent the patch from reinstalling.
The incident adds to growing concerns over stability issues tied to recent Windows updates. Until Microsoft provides clarification or a corrective patch, users experiencing boot failures may need to rely on manual rollback procedures to restore normal operation.
