Despite a string of problematic updates in late 2025 and January 2026, Windows 11 continues to gain ground.
According to the latest figures from Statcounter, Windows 11’s global market share rose sharply in February 2026. The operating system climbed 10.16 percentage points, increasing from 62.41 percent to 72.57 percent worldwide.
At the same time, Windows 10 saw a significant decline. Its market share dropped from 35.77 percent to 26.45 percent, representing a fall of 9.32 percentage points during the same period.
Meanwhile, Windows 7 continues its gradual fade. After a minor uptick at the end of 2025, the legacy operating system now accounts for just 0.62 percent of users globally.
The shift suggests that, despite user frustrations over updates and ongoing bugs, Windows 11 adoption remains strong—likely driven by hardware refresh cycles, enterprise upgrades, and the approaching end of support timelines for older versions.
