Anthropic is reportedly in early-stage talks to acquire Nvidia-backed startup Decart AI in a deal that could be valued at around $6 billion, as the Claude developer looks for ways to expand computing capacity ahead of a potential public listing.
Decart develops AI infrastructure, optimization technology and advanced AI models. Its technology could help Anthropic manage rising demand for Claude while improving inference performance and efficiency.
Among Decart’s products are Lucy, an AI model capable of editing live video in real time, and Oasis, which creates simulated environments for training and testing robotics and autonomous-driving systems.
If the acquisition is completed, Decart’s team is expected to join Anthropic’s inference and performance organization. The startup raised $300 million earlier this year in a funding round led by Radical Ventures, with Nvidia joining as an investor.
The potential deal fits Anthropic’s broader strategy of expanding control over its AI infrastructure. The company has also been recruiting engineers with expertise across hardware and software as it explores custom chip designs and more efficient ways to run Claude models.
