Microsoft might be gearing up to rebrand its AI-powered capabilities within Windows under a fresh banner: “Windows Intelligence.” This new name recently appeared in the latest version of Windows 11, specifically in an AppPrivacy.adml file, where a setting titled “Let Apps Access Windows Intelligence” was discovered by a Twitter user. For the past year, Microsoft has been using the name “Copilot” to represent its suite of AI-driven features across Windows, including what was previously Bing Chat.

The shift from “Copilot” to “Windows Intelligence” could signal a broader, more integrated vision for AI within Windows, potentially aligning Microsoft’s strategy with Apple’s approach. Apple announced its “Apple Intelligence” AI features earlier this year, likely influencing Microsoft’s decision to establish a similarly unified branding. This move doesn’t necessarily mean the “Copilot” brand will vanish. It could instead evolve to represent a specific part of the broader Windows Intelligence ecosystem, which would position the chatbot as just one element among a comprehensive AI suite.

Microsoft hasn’t officially commented on this possible rebrand, nor has it clarified what this shift could mean for existing Copilot tools or Copilot+ PCs. The rebranding may ultimately aim to strengthen Windows as an AI-driven operating system, suggesting that Microsoft is committed to keeping pace with competitors in the race to integrate advanced AI capabilities into user-friendly platforms.
