Mini PCs are fast becoming the go-to choice for power users seeking the efficiency and portability of laptop hardware in a compact desktop form factor. If you’ve been considering a laptop, it might be time to think about a mini PC instead, especially with GMKTec’s latest offering, the EVO-X1.

This mini PC packs AMD’s Ryzen AI 9 HX 370, a 12-core powerhouse with integrated Radeon 890M graphics. You also get a generous 32GB of DDR5 RAM, dual PCIe 4.0 M.2 drives, and support for dual monitors via HDMI and DisplayPort. The highlight? An OCuLink port on the front, enabling the addition of external graphics for a performance boost when needed.

Despite its impressive specs, the EVO-X1 is housed in a tiny case measuring just 0.7 liters in volume and 4.3 inches at its longest side. Thanks to a custom vapor chamber cooling system, this mini PC can handle a 70-watt TDP, keeping the Ryzen 370, RAM, and SSD cool for consistent high performance.

Currently, the EVO-X1 is available in China for 5,300 RMB (around $733 USD), which is a steep price for a mini-PC, especially when considering that you need to supply your own storage and OS. However, given the cutting-edge hardware packed into this small package, it could be a solid investment. For now, it looks like GMKTec plans to roll it out globally in 2025, but keep an eye on their official store for any updates.
