Gamers concerned about performance in the eagerly awaited Stalker 2: Heart of Chornobyl have received a reassuring update from Nvidia. In a blog post, the company shared promising benchmark results showcasing how its RTX 40 Series GPUs handle the resource-intensive Unreal Engine 5 title. Even mid-tier GPUs like the RTX 4070 can achieve a solid 70 FPS at 1080p and 52 FPS at 1440p with DLSS 3.0 disabled. When DLSS 3.0 is enabled, performance doubles, highlighting the transformative potential of Nvidia’s technology.
Interestingly, the benchmarks hint that DLSS 3.0 could mitigate potential CPU bottlenecks in Stalker 2. The Unreal Engine 5’s heavy reliance on Lumen and Nanite systems for lighting and detail can strain CPUs, but Nvidia’s performance charts suggest enabling DLSS 3.0 alleviates this issue. The technology’s Frame Generation and Super Resolution appear to shift more workload to the GPU, ensuring smoother gameplay and minimizing the impact of CPU limitations.
Nvidia’s desktop benchmarks used high-end setups featuring Intel Core i9-14900K CPUs with 64GB of RAM and Windows 11. Across the RTX 40 Series, results were impressive: at 4K, GPUs like the RTX 4070 and above achieved over double the frame rates when DLSS 3.0 was activated. The RTX 4090 and RTX 4080 Super, for example, averaged more than 100 FPS even at maximum resolution. Lower resolutions further boosted performance, with 1440p delivering 100+ FPS for all tested GPUs and the RTX 4060 Ti reaching a respectable 72.9 FPS. At 1080p, the RTX 4090 achieved an astounding 165.9 FPS with DLSS enabled.
Laptop performance also showcased similar gains, with mobile RTX 40 Series GPUs demonstrating 2x stronger performance using DLSS 3.0. The benchmarks confirm that Nvidia’s technology offers a significant advantage, particularly in demanding scenarios like Stalker 2.
While Nvidia’s results are encouraging, the gaming community eagerly awaits independent benchmarks to verify these claims. For now, these figures suggest that Nvidia’s RTX 40 Series, coupled with DLSS 3.0, will deliver exceptional performance, even in this cutting-edge title.
