Casio is releasing its first ‘smart ring‘, the CRW-001-1JR, to mark the 50th anniversary of its very first digital watch.

The smart ring has the same shape as a Casio wristwatch, but the difference is that it fits on your finger. The Verge writes that although the case is barely an inch in size, it has room for an LCD screen that can display hours, minutes and seconds.

The smart ring also has three buttons that can control additional functions like displaying the date or time in a different time zone. There is also a stopwatch, built-in light and an alarm function.

The battery should last for about two years of use before it needs to be replaced – so it’s a tad different the likes of the Samsung Galaxy Ring and Oura Ring 4

The CRW-001-1JR will be released in Japan in December and is priced at 19,800 Yen, equivalent to around £100/$127.
