Microsoft seems to think Windows 11 users are eager for faster access to emojis, and they’ve acted accordingly. In the latest Windows 11 Insiders Preview (Build 22635.4580), the company has introduced an emoji panel directly on the taskbar, making it easier to insert emojis no matter what you’re doing.
While there’s already a keyboard shortcut (Windows key + Period or Windows key + Semicolon) to bring up the emoji panel, it’s clear not everyone is aware of it. With so many shortcut combinations out there, it’s easy to forget the one for emojis. So, Microsoft is making it even more convenient with this taskbar integration.
For those who don’t need this added convenience, the feature can be easily disabled. Just go to Settings > Personalization > Taskbar, and under System tray icons, change the setting for “Emojis and more” to Never.
If you’re not part of the Windows 11 Insider Program, don’t worry — this feature will roll out to the wider public soon, likely with update KB5046733. Keep an eye on your updates for more details on its official release.
