LG’s UltraGear 45GX990A: The First 5K2K Bendable OLED Monitor

In the world of marketing, the phrase “world’s first” often gets thrown around, but LG’s new UltraGear 45GX990A OLED monitor might actually deserve it. While it isn’t the first 5K display or the first bendable screen, it’s the first to combine 5K2K resolution and bendability. The 45GX990A features a 45-inch OLED panel, with a 5120×2160 resolution, providing a 21:9 ultrawide aspect ratio, making it significantly wider and sharper than a standard 4K screen.

What’s truly remarkable about this monitor is the ability to go from a flat display to a 900R curve at will, providing the flexibility to adapt based on your needs—be it for immersive gaming or general productivity. If you prefer something a bit simpler, the 45GX950A offers the same size and resolution, but with a fixed 800R curve.

Both models boast WOLED panels, meaning you get deeper blacks and higher brightness for an enhanced visual experience. While LG hasn’t detailed the exact refresh rate, a 0.03ms response time suggests that these monitors will easily handle 240Hz speeds, ideal for demanding gamers. They also feature USB-C connections with 90W Power Delivery, and compatibility with both Nvidia G-Sync and AMD FreeSync for smooth gaming.

Pricing and release dates are still under wraps, but based on LG’s history with OLED monitors, these will likely be premium-priced at launch. For those seeking a deal, it might be worth waiting for Black Friday 2025 or a similar sale event.
