Unlike the higher-end models, the Essential skips some of the more advanced features, such as radar motion detection and the ability to stream video from Ecobee’s video doorbell or home security camera. However, it still delivers a full-color touchscreen (albeit smaller than its pricier siblings), and Ecobee promises a 23% savings on energy bills annually thanks to its intelligent scheduling and energy efficiency features.
The Smart Thermostat Essential incorporates adaptive learning technology, which customizes your heating and cooling schedules based on the rhythms of your household. This ensures that your home is always at the ideal temperature when you’re there, and it saves energy by reducing unnecessary heating and cooling when the house is empty.
