Windows 11 24H2 Faces Another Hurdle—AutoCAD 2022 Users Blocked from Upgrading
The rollout of Windows 11 24H2 has been far from smooth, and now a new compatibility issue has emerged, affecting users of Autodesk’s AutoCAD 2022. Microsoft has confirmed that systems running this older version of AutoCAD may experience boot issues after upgrading to Windows 11 24H2, prompting the company to place an upgrade block on affected devices.
AutoCAD 2022 Users Prevented from Automatic Upgrades
Microsoft has officially halted automatic delivery of Windows 11 24H2 to PCs with AutoCAD 2022 installed. The restriction does not extend to other versions of AutoCAD, meaning users running newer or older iterations of the software should be able to upgrade without issues.
This isn’t the first time Microsoft has blocked Windows 11 24H2 for specific users. Previously, the company paused updates for systems with incompatible hardware and those using Auto HDR, ensuring that users don’t experience significant problems after upgrading. Microsoft has a history of implementing temporary upgrade blocks to prevent major disruptions, such as the ones seen with certain USB devices, printers, and scanners.
A Manual Installation Workaround—But With Risks
Despite the restriction, manual installation remains an option for those who want to proceed with the upgrade. However, Microsoft strongly advises against this, warning that it could lead to serious system stability issues.
For now, Microsoft is actively working on a fix and will provide an update once a solution is available. If you rely on AutoCAD 2022, it’s best to hold off on upgrading until Microsoft resolves the issue.
