AMD’s Ryzen 9 9950X3D and 9900X3D Could Arrive on March 12
AMD’s X3D processors remain the top choice for gaming PCs, thanks to the performance boost from 3D V-cache. The Ryzen 7 9800X3D, the first of its generation to launch with the feature late last year, has remained in high demand, and now AMD is preparing to roll out its flagship Ryzen 9 9950X3D and 9900X3D CPUs. The big question has been when they’ll arrive—and now, we might finally have an answer.
According to a listing on JD.com, one of China’s largest online retailers (spotted by Tom’s Hardware), the Ryzen 9 9950X3D and 9900X3D are set to launch on March 12. While this isn’t an official confirmation from AMD, the date aligns with previous release patterns, making it a likely global launch window. The leaked prices indicate that the 9950X3D (16-core) will cost 5,599 yuan ($772 USD), while the 9900X3D (12-core) is listed at 4,599 yuan ($634 USD).
However, international pricing could be different due to regional taxes and conversion rates. For example, the 9800X3D sells for around 4,000 yuan (~$552 USD) in China, but in the U.S., it retails for $479. This price difference largely matches the 15% value-added tax (VAT) in China. With this in mind, rough calculations suggest that the 9950X3D could land around $650–$660 in the U.S., while the 9900X3D may be closer to $540.
If these estimates hold, AMD’s new high-end X3D chips would launch at prices similar to their 7000-series predecessors, which debuted at $700 for the 7950X3D and $600 for the 7900X3D in 2023. That said, supply chain fluctuations or market demand could still influence pricing before or after launch.
