Microsoft Redesigns Copilot for Windows 11 Insiders: A Faster, More Integrated Experience
Microsoft has once again revamped its Copilot feature, introducing a completely redesigned version for Windows 11 Insiders. This update takes Copilot from being a feature hidden in the sidebar or a web app to a fully integrated, native app built directly into the operating system. According to early testers, this new native Copilot app is performing even better than the previous version of the ChatGPT desktop app, with almost no delays and much lower memory usage.
What’s New in the Copilot App?
The new Copilot app has been completely rebuilt from the ground up using Windows technologies like XAML and WinUI, providing a much smoother experience. Native integration means Copilot now functions as a standalone app with its own taskbar icon and a picture-in-picture mode for easier multitasking. The app generates responses much faster while consuming only 50-100MB of RAM on average, making it a highly efficient tool.
Now located in the Windows 11 sidebar, users can quickly initiate conversations with the AI chatbot and receive immediate responses, making it more accessible and user-friendly than ever before.
Better Integration with Windows 11
With its native app integration, Copilot can now better understand your system configuration and generate more tailored responses and solutions. It can provide personalized tips and responses based on the apps and components installed on your system. While Copilot currently cannot control Windows 11 directly, this feature may come in a future update.
How to Get the New Copilot App
The redesigned Copilot app is currently being rolled out to Windows 11 Insiders and has the version number 1.25023.101.0. If you’re part of the Insider program, you should receive the update soon. However, Microsoft has yet to announce when the general public will receive the native Copilot app.
