President Donald Trump’s rollback of EV incentives is hitting the Battery Belt, where massive electric vehicle and battery plants once promised a manufacturing revival.

In Tennessee, Ford’s $6 billion complex has been delayed until 2027, and similar slowdowns are rippling across Georgia, Kentucky and Indiana. The end of the $7,500 tax credit and tighter federal subsidies have clouded the outlook for an industry that was expected to create tens of thousands of jobs.

Analysts now predict U.S. battery output could far exceed demand by 2030, risking idle factories and layoffs.
